I'm not sure there isn't enough similarity already where self-awareness in involved. From what I've seen of the sciences, and of my friends who pursued them, hubris (sometimes well-meaning) fuels a lot of justifications. Which is why I find Greely's stance predictable.
I'm not debating that. I just think that those animals we raise may be more self aware than we give them credit for being, which is the hubris I'm talking about.
But yes, I eat them. And I find the prospect of chimeras exciting. I do, however, find the caution contrary to the spirit motivating the research.
